Week 2 Summary (04/21/1941 - 04/27/1941)

1941 New York Yankees
Week Two of the 1941 BBW Replay is in the books and things are off to a good start, at least for some teams. The Yankees finally lost a game, and are sitting on a 12-2 record. Brooklyn has won nine in a row before they took their next loss and are sitting on an 11-3 record, both teams sitting atop the standings in their respective league.

New York (AL) and Brooklyn aren’t the only stories so far. Chicago (AL) has ridden their pitching into second place in the AL, while Detroit and Cleveland, the professional prognosticator's pre-season picks, have started to shake off their poor starts and are starting to climb the standings as well. In the NL, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and St. Louis are nipping at the Dodgers' heels, with the Pirates being the surprise team in that group.

Both leagues will be experiencing their first cross-country road trips this upcoming week so in a few more weeks everybody will have seen all their league opponents. All teams are still shedding excess players in an attempt to get their rosters down to size by Mid-May, but any injuries incurred so far have had only minimal impact. We are only two weeks in though, so there is still plenty of baseball yet to be played.

Week Three of the 1941 BBW replay is in the books and the Yankees and the Dodgers are continuing to try and run away with their respective leagues. It's still early obviously, so teams in both leagues are continuing to hang around as best they can, and should the leaders blink at some point during the season, they want to be ready to jump into a lead of their own. 1941 New York Giants At the completion of Week One the Yankees were averaging 9.3 runs per game. They are now down to "only" 6.8 runs per game but are clearly leading the AL in this category. Perhaps more importantly, they have lowered their ERA from 4.71 in Week One to 3.17 at the end of Week Three. The star for the Yankees so far has been left fielder Charlie Keller . Keller leads the AL in hits (37), doubles (9), homeruns (10), runs (26), RBI's (32), and is second in average (.416). Week 20 Summary (08/25/1941 - 08/31/1941)

Week Twenty of the 1941 BBW Replay is in the books and we have reached the end of August and are heading into September with four weeks remaining to be played. Four teams in the AL have reached or passed the 130 games played mark, but the remainder are close behind. The NL teams are still slightly behind their AL counterparts, but that will be made up over these few remaining weeks. In the AL, New York has been without Joe DiMaggio for the last ten days or so, but he is scheduled to return to play later this coming week. Regardless, they have maintained their healthy lead over the rest of the division. Their magic number is down to ten, with only twenty-two games left to play. Boston has secured the second spot in the AL standings, although that may have more to do with Chicago and Cleveland's current struggles. Week 18 Summary (08/11/1941 - 08/17/1941)

Week Eighteen of the 1941 BBW Replay is in the books and we are in the middle of the doubleheader season. This past week featured seven doubleheaders during the week and then ended with seven more on Sunday, while this upcoming week will include twelve doubleheaders during the week and will end with another six on Sunday to close out the week. The completion of Week Eighteen means that the replay is now at the three-quarters pole and we are heading around the final corner and heading toward the finish line.  In the AL, Boston ended last week only 9.5 games behind New York, but New York has now won nine of their last ten while Boston, Cleveland, and Chicago all have .500 or below records over that same timeframe, meaning New York ends this week with a full 16.0 games lead over Boston, with Cleveland and Chicago both 18.0 games behind.
